*Average Rates Quoted
The rates shown to the left are based on a cost-plus price structure. There are hundreds of types of credit and debit cards all with varying rates. The averages shown are for the most common card types you'll run.

What is cost-plus pricing? What does it mean?
There are two ways to price credit card processing. The first, is a tiered program where you have one rate for swiped cards, one rate for rewards cards, and one rate for business and corporate cards.

The second method is called cost-plus. Every merchant account reseller pays the exact same costs to visa / mastercard. There are a few hundred different card types that can be run, all with varying costs. Cost-plus pricing charges a flat rate across the board.

Tiered pricing lumps the majority of the cards you run into categories in order to make understanding rates simpler. It can also mean you're paying higher rates than you should be.

Cost-plus pricing charges one flat rate over the costs paid to Visa / Mastercard. Essentially, when a card costs less to run you keep the difference.

Assuming the rate is low enough, cost-plus pricing means you're paying the lowest rates possible on all of the different card types.
